Mirror Clamp
The shaft collar is pushed up against the inside of the mirror box to
limit longitudinal motion of the screw, but is loose enough so that the
screw turns freely. Turning the wingnut screws counterclockwise pushes the clamp down
against
the mirror pushing the mirror against the webbing. Turning the wingnut
screws clockwise raises the mirror clamp freeing the mirror to float in
the webbing. The clamp is made of a solid piece of pine. The screws are
1/4"x20 socket head cap screws with press fit plastic wing knobs. The
knobs and shaft collars are available from McMaster-Carr and other sources. See
closeup view of the mirror clamp is shown
on the next page.
